A sign-in sheet has one job: tell you who came, and how to reach them afterward. That takes less than most templates ask for.
Leave off anything about who will live in the home: whether they have children, their age, marital status, religion, national origin, or disability. Those answers don't help you follow up, and the Fair Housing Act makes it unlawful "to make, print, or publish... any notice, statement, or advertisement, with respect to the sale or rental of a dwelling that indicates any preference, limitation, or discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin" (42 U.S.C. 3604(c)). Many states and cities protect more classes than that. A sheet that asks only for contact details and representation stays clear of the question.
The same rule applies to the listing description and the flyer on the counter. Our fair housing word checker screens a description against HUD's own advertising guidance.
A paper sheet shows every earlier visitor's name and phone number to the next person who picks up the pen. If that bothers you or your seller, keep the clipboard with you and hand it to each visitor, or cover filled rows with a sheet of paper. Take the sheets with you when you lock up; they shouldn't stay in the seller's house.
The QR code opens the link you entered, such as the listing's own website. Visitors can scan it on the way out and keep the photos, the details and your contact information on their phone, which is more useful to them than a flyer that ends up in the car. It does not collect sign-ins: contact details still go on the paper. If the listing has its own website with a contact form, some visitors will reach you from there later.
Agents on My Single Property Websites can publish open-house dates on a listing's website, in their own words. We analyzed every one on listing sites created from January 2022 through early October 2026 (pulled October 10, 2026). Of 5,711 listing sites, 239 (4.2%) listed at least one open house, with 320 dates between them. We counted only the dates whose day or time we could read without guessing.
| Day of the week (290 dates) | Share |
|---|---|
| Saturday | 49% |
| Sunday | 38% |
| Thursday | 6% |
| Friday | 6% |
| Monday to Wednesday | 1% |
| Start time and length (213 dates with both a start and an end time) | Share |
|---|---|
| Started at 1 p.m. | 32% |
| Started at noon | 24% |
| Started at 11 a.m. | 16% |
| Started at 2 p.m. | 12% |
| Ran 2 hours | 59% |
| Ran 3 hours | 30% |
| Ran 4 hours | 6% |
So the typical open house in our data is two hours on a weekend, most often Saturday, starting between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. (72% of the dates with a time). This is when agents scheduled them, not how many people came; we don't have attendance numbers, and your market may differ.
The property address and date at the top, your name and brokerage, and columns for each visitor's name, phone or email, and whether they're working with an agent. A "How did you hear about it?" column is worth adding if you want to know which marketing brought people in.
Anything about who will live in the home: children, age, marital status, religion, national origin or disability. The Fair Housing Act makes it unlawful to print any notice or statement about the sale of a home that indicates a preference based on familial status, religion, national origin, disability, race, color or sex, and many states protect more classes, such as age or marital status. Those answers don't help you follow up anyway.
No. The QR code on this sheet opens whatever listing link you enter, such as the listing's own website, so visitors can keep the photos and details. Contact details still go on the paper sheet.
In 290 open-house dates that agents published on My Single Property Websites listing sites created from 2022 through October 2026, 49% were on a Saturday and 38% on a Sunday. Of the 213 with a clear start and end time, 72% started between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and 59% ran two hours.
Two hours is the most common length in our data: of 213 open houses agents scheduled with a start and end time, 59% ran two hours, 30% ran three and 6% ran four. Pick the length that covers the hours buyers in your market are out looking.
A QR code is only as good as the page it opens. A single property website puts the photos, the details, the open-house dates and your contact form on one page of its own, and every My Single Property Websites listing page includes an AI assistant that answers buyer questions from your listing's facts after the open house is over.
A dedicated page for one property, ready for the QR code on your sign-in sheet.
