About Marlene Varga

Here is a synopsis of who I am, where I’ve been and what I can do to help you through your real estate journey:

I grew up on Long Island, New York and completed High School and a Practical Nursing Course in 1979.  I had always wanted to do humanitarian work and travel the world, so I joined the Army as a Combat Medic not long after graduating nursing school.  Because of my medical training, the Army placed me as a Practical Nurse.  The majority of my career I worked in Maternal Child Health which included Neonatal Intensive Care, OB/GYN, pediatrics, Mother Baby Unit, Labor and Delivery and many other areas of nursing.   I met my husband while teaching the Combat Medical and Paramedic Courses at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.  We have been married for over 24 years, have two wonderful children who are in their 20s, and three cute little dogs.

I was lucky to be assigned at places like Walter Reed Army Medical Center near Washington, DC and Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.  I was deployed to Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War, I learned how lucky we are as Americans.  Near the end of my Army career, I was assigned as an advisor to an Army Reserve hospital unit at Vancouver Barracks.  I chose to remain in the beautiful Northwest, and retired from the Army in 1999 and became the Community Outreach Coordinator for Vancouver/Clark Department of Parks and Recreation.  

I always enjoyed shopping and getting great deals so when some of my friends suggested I get in real estate in 2006, I thought I might enjoy helping others find great deals on their homes.  I am comfortable working with a wide range of clients such as first-time home buyers, military veterans, home owners interested in upgrading, and investors taking advantage of our current low interest rates and home prices.  I absolutely love the real estate business and the lasting relationships I have built with my clients. 

In my free time I am a volunteer leader of the immunization clinic at the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington.  I really enjoy giving back to our local community and mentoring other nurses.  I also enjoy the many outdoor recreation activities available in the Cascade Mountains and Columbia Gorge.
